Why I keep bouncing off big mobile RPGs
I love RPGs, but half the time a mobile one loses me within the first hour, and it's rarely the story's fault. It's the interface. Menus built for tablets, tiny buttons, inventory screens that need three taps to do one thing.
Emberfall Legacy is a good example of a game that's genuinely strong once you push past its clumsy inventory. The combat is smart, the writing holds up, but that early friction nearly made me quit before it got good.
The lesson for developers is simple: respect the thumb. A great party system means nothing if I dread opening the equipment screen. The best mobile RPGs hide their complexity behind clean, quick menus.
If you're picking one up, give it three or four hours before deciding. Most of them front-load the confusion and reward patience. Just know that's a real cost, and not every game earns that patience.
